Real Estate and Construction

The Finnish real estate market has witnessed a clear increase in activity and professionalism since the early 2000’s. This can be partly credited to the expanding interest of foreign investment into Finland, with non-Finnish ownership of real property already clearly exceeding one-third of the total real property market value. In addition, the Finnish legal climate with respect to real estate and construction is considered very stable and transparently regulated, with well-established market practices.

Within the last few years, industrial and logistics, residential and social infrastructure have been the most active market segments. Alternatives, including data centers, have continued to see growing interest from international investors. Yields have stabilized and the gap between buyers and sellers has continued to narrow. Nordic banks have recently been very active in restructuring and refinancing of commercial real estate, a clear positive for the Finnish real estate investment market and its further recovery.

Our market-leading Real Estate and Construction team advises property owners, investors, funds, developers, construction companies, as well as the public sector in a broad range of real estate transactions and projects, including the sale and purchase as well as development and construction of both individual properties and real estate portfolios. We also support our clients more generally in various construction and real estate asset and investment management matters.

We work closely and seamlessly with our other practice groups to provide assistance e.g. in relation to financing, structuring, tax as well as competition, FDI and other regulatory matters. Supported by our market-leading M&A and Private Equity practices, we have extensive in-depth expertise in real estate related joint ventures and other co-investment platforms.
