Avance expands service offering by hiring Senior Economist

Avance Attorneys is pleased to announce the appointment of distinguished economist Petri Rouvinen, Ph.D. (Econ) as the firm’s Senior Economist. Prior to joining Avance, Petri has been Research Director of the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (ETLA). At Avance, Petri will support the firm’s clients in relevant market transformations affecting their businesses. Moreover, Petri will provide expert economic advice, in particular, in the field of competition law. Petri’s wide economic understanding will also add significant value to the firm’s clients in processes related to risk and conflict management.

“To remain a trusted strategic speaking partner also in the future, we need to go beyond the mastery of the regulatory landscape and increasingly combine legal solutions with a profound understanding of our clients’ industries”, says Mikko Alkio, partner at Avance. “Petri is a perfect fit and will be a great addition to our team as we pursue our ambitions to meet these future challenges”.

“After a long career heading one of the largest economic research institutions in Finland, I felt that the time was ripe for me to share my expertise with businesses also outside the realm of economic research, says Mr. Rouvinen. “From the perspective of an economist who has evaluated the transformation of various industries, I feel privileged to have this opportunity to now be part of such transformation as part of the legal industry. Due to its reputation of combining highest quality legal services with a willingness to do things little differently, Avance was a natural next step in my career.”

“We are happy and proud to welcome such an established professional as Petri to the team”, says Ulf-Henrik Kull, Senior Partner. “From the very beginning, the guiding principle of Avance has been to build a team of the most competent and experienced individuals on the market to tackle the increasingly complex legal issues faced by our clients. We see Petri’s appointment as a logical continuation of this principle.”
