Avance and its individual lawyers continue their strong performance in the Chambers Europe rankings. The newly released 2018 edition ranks, as in previous years, the firm’s highly praised Corporate/M&A practice in the top tier (Band 1) but now also elevates the Avance real estate practice to Band 1 in Real Estate and partner Mikko Alkio to Band 1 in Competition/European Law:
Avance rises to the top band this year on the back of strong client recommendations. Sources note that the lawyers “have a depth of knowledge in the area and do very thorough work.” Clients also highlight that the department is “a good team for large matters,” adding that “they keep to timetables.” (Chambers Europe 2018, Real Estate)
Rising through the rankings, Mikko Alkio is recognised for his broad competition law practice, advising clients on abuse of dominance, public procurement and merger clearance matters. Sources describe him as “one of the best in Finland for state aid.” Commentators also enthuse that he is “a brilliant lawyer who is very easy to work with and also has lengthy experience in the field.” (Chambers Europe 2018, Competition/European Law)
Co-heads of the Avance Real Estate practice Christoffer Charpentier and Mathias Lindqvist note: “This top ranking in record time since launch of the firm in late 2011 is a testament to the super dedicated work of our real estate team, which in turn has led to such extraordinary client satisfaction and market position. We are humbled and very grateful to our team and clients.”
Head of the Avance Competition practice Mikko Alkio adds: “This recognition is thanks to an extremely competent and ambitious team, with whom I have had the privilege to work with over the past six years. Our competition team has continued to grow and in the future we are in an even better position to serve our clients.”
